Saturday, April 30 marked the end of August Wilson Week, a celebration of the beloved playwright’s 71st birthday. A five-day program of readings, dedications, and discussions culminated in a block party near the site of Wilson’s childhood home at 1727 Bedford Avenue, where a restoration project has just begun.

We visited the Bedford Avenue block party to check out the house, tour the newly minted August Wilson Park, and indulge in some good food from Chloe Nicole’s Catering.
